If you were around when MGMT's "Kid" blew up, get ready to re-experience the same feeling thanks to Leyya's brand new album Half Asleep which dropped earlier today.
We've been following the Austrian duo since their 2015 release "Superego" and it's beautiful to see that they've made quite a name for themselves in the past five years. Sophie and Marco released two highly acclaimed albums, played live shows in over 20 countries and in front of crowds at Primavera, SXSW, and Reeperbahn.
Half Asleep comes 6 years after their sophomore album Sauna (2018) and 16 tracks that explore the space of indie, electronic, and alt-pop. I picked my favorite so far - "Hundred Or More", because of its uplifting and carefree energy. It's a lively, synth-driven Indietronica track with fuzzy electric guitars. Despite its upbeat vibe, the song explores the struggle of avoiding past pain and coming to terms with the possibility that it may never fully heal.
The perfect Friday morning soundtrack.
