I have to be honest - the title of this Leaving Laurel track sent me back to mid-2000s where I was in the epicenter of my emo days. Back then post-hardcore bands seriously embraced those long titles.
That being said, this has nothing to do with that scene and if you're ready for your next aerial house experience - you won't be disappointed. In addition, this is a release from Anjunadeep, so it is an instant winner in my book.
Leaving Laurel is a tale of two old friends Gordon & Pierce; connecting musically for the first time after being close friends for almost a decade. Inspired by recording into an old, thought to be broken, cassette tape player, a new project materialised seemingly out of thin air - something neither of them knew they were looking for.
"sometimes it’s scary but it’s still just you and me" feels like blending Kiasmos, Lane 8 and Tycho together and while it carries a cinematic scent, the release does not lack intensity.
Sunday drifts.
