Funny enough, I already mentioned Laura today, as the newest single of Alyx Bell reminded me of her due to the sweet melancholy & haziness in her vocals.
And here we are with Laura Misch's 2nd single from her upcoming LP Sample the Sky - yet another majestic listening experience. "Hide To Seek" carries her signature sax & airy vocals but takes a more electronic/fast-paced turn - with energetic synths & airy pads, while still keeping the organic feel & her beautiful storytelling. An amazing fact about this tune is that it sampled a recording of the inside of trees via geophones - "capturing the internal conversation of the forest".
Laura elaborates, "The kind of elemental scope of the album really does expand between the earth and the sky. The track is about desire and wanting someone to draw out parts of yourself that you're hiding and how we're all shaped by this interplay. The forest undergrowth feels like a perfect metaphor for the subconscious mind, and it’s a charged song. I imagined these mycelial threads leading the listener into the album world.”
Sample The Sky is due Oct 21st.
