Usually it's Kwaku's deep, soulful voice that draws me to his music... On "Rhodes" however, I must say it's the songwriting that stands among the shining pillars of the track.
He beautifully paints the picture of a story that's not only endearing, but also quite relatable too especially in the chorus where he repeats "All these roads lead right back to you". The presence of the brass works accentuates the soulful nature of the track and brings the instrumentation to life too.
‘Rhodes’ follows the singer as he comes to terms with the reality of realising you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. Referring to the iconic Rhodes Jazz piano, every note he writes leads back to the one he let slip away as he uncovers the highs and lows of love and heartbreak.
