I've got the perfect power-up electronica for anyone who loved the work of Bonobo and Emancipator.
Enter the sonic universe of London-based electronic artist Kloyd (real name Kate Lloyd). Her work embodies elements of electronica, downtempo and bass music and is one of the most captivating things I've heard in a while.
"0101" is the lead single from Kloyd's emotional and pulsating electronic EP Chapters, released via Cross Country records, home to the amazing Jacana People.
Kate, who has her own show on Voices Radio, has already received support from 2 of my favorite BBC Radio presenters - Jaguar and Sian Eleri. Mark my words, we're in the early stages of the birth of the next rising electronic star.
The whole Chapters EP is characterized by ethereal and atmospheric soundscapes and has a strong focus on texture and mood. Its immersive and otherworldly feel will transport you to a place of calm, introspection, and contemplation, making it a perfect escape from the stresses of everyday life. Today, I chose to feature her collaboration with talented Bristol-based singer t l k.
"I remember when I sent the draft of this tune & she came back with the lyric “learning how to love” I was so moved I cried. t l k capsulated the emotion of the EP in its entirety. I defo took a softer approach with this music & will share more on that soon." shares the artist on Instagram.
