Italian producer Kisnou has a discography full of iconic tracks. The impact that he has had on the chillout scene throughout the years cannot be overstated, and his upcoming album Out Of The Dark will surely serve only to expand this. The album releases in August on Loci Records but the first single "Blackrose" dropped today, giving an exciting taste for what is to come.
The track is a constantly evolving entity, becoming richer and more intricate with every passing bar. An organic drum line pulses through the piece from start to finish accompanied by a percussive pluck that drives the rhythm home. Strings and pads sweep across the stereo space as though brushing past the listener as they dance through a crowded room; indeed the whole piece seems to swirl about one's head almost kaleidoscopically.
Such is the mastery and experience of Kisnou, he manages to tame all the elements of the track with ease, remaining entirely in control of their movement as the piece surges forward. The strings move with strength and purpose but are not allowed to roam freely, lest they disturb the rhythm that is maintained throughout.
In a way this song becomes slightly hypnotic as it progresses; the listener sinks into the soundscape and arrives at the end of the track unaware of how long they have been listening. I suppose time flies when you're having fun.
