Time to press the pause button on the Friday stress and enjoy an hour of zen, soul-cuddling music. Kikimora's new single "Holding on to Nothing" couldn't have come at a better time.
The Texas-based six-piece caught my attention thanks to their April-released single "Chase the Wind". The latest release, however, embarks on a mellower journey into the captivating world of bossa nova, accompanied by lead singer Hayley Lynch's enchanting vocals. "Embracing Emptiness" encapsulates the essence of clinging onto our imagined ideals rather than the stark truth of reality. Gorgeous, smooth, and inspiring, the track sounds as if Hiatus Kaiyote were to record an album somewhere on a beach in Argentina.
Besides Hayley, the alternative r&b/hazz band consists of Leo (keyboard), Ed Ramos (lead guitar), Jericho Cagle (bass), Albert Braun (drums), and Eric Boseman (percussion). A seriously talented group of people and I am utterly excited about what's ahead of them.
