It's great to start seeing André 3000 more often in my feed. A few months after his Therapeutic LP New Blue Sun, the legendary artist linked up with Kamasi Washington for the release of "Dream State" - the latest offering from the musician's forthcoming album Fearless Movement. Since both share a mutual love for the woodwind, it's no surprise we hear a lot of the instrumental throughout this experimental in nature composition.
"The song is a celebration of life and the opportunity it gives us to explore new possibilities. We created this song together instantaneously as we improvised off the music we made in the moment. It was such an honor to work on this song with one of my heroes, the great André 3000.”, Kamasi elaborates.
Faithful to its title, "Dream State", the track kicks off with a carefully expanding ambient intro, built around horns, flutes, and woodwind. Just when your soul starts to drift, Kamasi and André start to open up the stage to various jazzy and electronic elements that turn the track into a whirlwind of emotions.
Confirmed features in the upcoming Kamasi Washington album include Thundercat, Terrace Martin, Patrice Quinn, and vocalists George Clinton, BJ the Chicago Kid, and D Smoke. We're in for a ride.
