Juliet July has the ability to create timelessness and her "Blue Paradise" transports me to an empty beach with only salty water and sand underneath my feet.
Aside from being beautifully crafted, the track actually explores a mental health taboo - she shares:
A friend told me about how he lost a loved one to suicide. It moved me so deeply that I had to write a song about it. This became "Blue Paradise". I never thought this song would become a lot more personal, but when I lost someone to suicide a few months later myself, this definitely happened. It made me realize that the taboo around mental health needs to be broken, that it’s okay to seek help and that, with the right help, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Also, it’s important to know what you can do as an outsider, when you see that someone is struggling. This is something we don’t get taught in school, but it’s real.. Talking about this can save lives. Whether it be in a small or big way; I hope ‘Blue Paradise’ can contribute to this & creates a dialogue.
We really hope this track brings you peace.
