Today I'm happy to share with you a blissful tune taken from her 2020 EP Blossom Carefully. Inspired by Joya’s urge to dream beyond her own imagination, the EP explores her connection with nature, spirituality and her growing need to escape.
On track's inspiration, Joya shares, "More Than Ever is very much a product of the recent months. My parents were freedom fighters and I grew up in the Netherlands in the aftermath of my fathers exile, so I’ve been aware of the unevenness of life. So to see people in this age ‘waking up’ about racism is very frustrating, but I’m so pleased with what we’ve created out of these times."
A soothing blend of hip hop and neo-soul, "Hours Left" feels like she allows the listener to peak in her inner world and shares a piece of herself. I weirdly felt I've met her in person after listening to the track. Not sure if that's the lyricism or the inviting instrumental, especially the piano which the whole composition ends with.
