It's been just another great year for the songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and vocal wizard Jordan Rakei. After he released his first (but not debut) album Wallflower with the notorious Ninja Tune in September 2017, he went through several big scenes (including O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire in London) and will soon be onstage for the BBC Biggest Weekend in Belfast where he'll support his labelmates Bonobo at Alexandra Palace.
Тhe good news (at least for the ones who are going to miss the shows) is that he even had some time to release new music. His new mellow track "Wildfire" just premiered on BBC 6 Music and set my soul on a quiet fire sparkled by Rakei's excellent soulful voice.
When it comes to the lyrics, Jordan says:
"Wildfire" is about dealing with a broken friendship. It explores how necessary it is to allow yourself to move on after you've been hurt and how holding a grudge affects your wellbeing. I often write about the concept of overthinking but this track deals more with acceptance for the sake of peace of mind.
So yeah... keep calm and listen to Jordan Rakei.
