The trumpet here speaks to my soul.
Jop, or Paul, created this beautiful piece, "Overload - Instrumental" with live instruments and it magically fuses downtempo electronica, jazz, and cinematic soundscapes. He shares:
The idea of the track was to show the insecurity and difficult circumstances and how things can build and build, coming in waves but can also calm down at times too. This is a running theme throughout the 3 tracks on the EP, and was initially a subconscious concept but started to form as I built the idea of making the tracks into an EP, to tie them together with a theme. I used the mute on the trumpet for this track as I think that has an interesting nuance and feel that emphasises the insecure nature, the notes don't always feel fully formed but can sound quite emotional! The drums and layers of synths were added to build to a peak and climax, that gradually fades towards the end of the track.
Playing the trumpet, the piano and the synths himself, with Ben Thomas on the drums & percussion.
