Johnny Kulo is one of those special people life brings your way! I saw him playing live with my friend Viktor back in Berlin 2 years ago at their event Family Dinner and later on, he collaborated with fraen on the lovely "i already knew".
Today, however, the spotlight shines entirely on Johnny alone and that's way beyond deserved. "LOVESTRUCK" marks a new chapter in his art and hopefully the beginning of more of his solo material being released for us to enjoy. The track is a beautiful showcase of Johnny's incredible vocal abilities and it feels like a homage to the 2000s gentle side of r&b and neo-soul music.
I love the raw, indie vibe of the instrumental, with its gritty textures and unpolished edges that give the track a sense of authenticity. It perfectly complements the soothing, high-pitched notes he hits, creating a beautiful contrast between the rough and the refined. This is the kind of song that feels intimate and deeply personal - like it was made for quiet moments that lead to new beginnings (and making new humans, wink).
