Born in East London to both Angolan and Congolese parents, Jay's musical journey began in the church, where he mastered the piano, bass, and guitar. On "New Day" he not only showcases his flair as a rapper, but also as a vocalist. The track is fleshed out by dreamy, comforting keys and glittery synths to give the track an edge. However it's really the vocals that breathe life into the track as his vocal delivery encapsulates the message that there are always new days ahead regardless of the struggle.
