Imagine the sound of SZA, H.E.R. mixed with the playfulness of Arlo Parks. "Cherry Pie" is beautiful slow-groove awesomeness perfect for those laid-back weekend days. "The message rebels against being told who I should be, how I should act, or how to be a "proper woman.", shares the Sacramento-based artist. "I wrote this song to be positive and empowering, with a chill vibe and beat. I wanted to write catchy lyrics that could also be an affirmation for listeners; it's an anthem about rebelling against society's standards of women. When I create my music, I see colors and sounds merging into one immersive experience, and this song was gold, pink, smoky red, and it gave me a warm and nostalgic feeling. This song is the perfect contrast between "easy listening" and a "f*** you" to negative people telling me what I can and can't be."
