Somehow this track by one of my favourite Australian wunderkinds has only reached me now, which is a shame, but better late than never, right?
Japanese Wallpaper is definitely the one to watch right now: various collaborations, Triple J's Unearthed High winner, a single included in a soundtrack of a Hollywood movie along with Bon Iver and Coldplay (the track is "Breath In"). All of it is kind of a big deal.
"Between Friends" is his first single after being included in the movie soundtrack, so clearly it's been getting a lot of attention. Jesse Davidson has perfectly smooth and tender vocals, which fit right in. The track is effortlessly beautiful and luscious, and you just get carried away. The tune is filled with soft sounds, relaxing and ambient. The production is also outstanding, pretty much as always.
His every new release makes me more excited about the next one.
