Electronic music has been prevailing in my playlist for the past month or so and today I had a sudden realization that I miss folk music. A lot.
I've known about James Vincent McMorrow for a while now, but never really bothered to listen to his full album or research into who he is. Hailing from Ireland he released his debut album in 2010 in his homeland and immediately got on top of the charts and took over the rest of the world in 2011. You may have heard his tracks "Higher Love" and "We Don’t Eat" as they were all over the place and remixed by some ridiculous amount of artists.
"Sparrow and the Wolf" is the track off his 2010 debut album, but it is one of those songs that never gets old. The track is very uplifting and cheerful, unlike most of the stuff I've heard from him before, which is the ultimate "cry-your-eyes-out" soundtrack. It's a very classical catchy danceable folk tune and it just reminds me once again why I love this music genre so much.
His new album will be released in 2014 and I can't wait!
