If you know anything about the Los Angeles-based SOULECTION crew, you know that the label is consistently fostering some of the most gifted and unique artists in the underground electronic scene. Branded as The Sound of Tomorrow, SOULECTION is redefining the current notion of electronic music and creating a culture that is characterized by some of the jazziest, soulful and mesmerizing sounds in the game.
While the artists at SOULECTION can’t be funneled into one genre, they do maintain one unifying characteristic: quality. To back up my preceding statement I want to share with you a recent release from one of the labels most promising talents, Atu. The Ann Arbor-based producer is known for his hauntingly smooth R&B style, likely to appeal to even the most vehement skeptics of the electronic genre.
In all honestly, it would be quite a feat to spoil a track featuring the velvety falsetto vocals of James Vincent McMorrow. That being said, it is also quite a feat to rework a track into something considerably better than the original with minimal edits. For me, Atu transforms a beautiful song into an exceptional musical experience. The track has racked up over 30 plays on my SoundCloud alone since its Tuesday release and I only expect that number to increase. I could now attempt to describe the intricate details of the song as most contributors do , but the more I write, the longer it takes for you to press play.
So go ahead and do that now.
