I haven't really kept up with Jagwar Ma's releases, but the new 7-minute goodness of a track grabbed my attention. The Aussies are gearing up for the release of their second album Every Now & Then in October and "Give Me A Reason" is the second track released off this album.
This track is quite literally a 7-minute long trip: it starts off as an easy and groovy kind of indietronica tune, but then gradually progresses to the point of almost deep house beats. It has an extraordinary blend of genres: indietronica, dub, psychedelia, I can even hear something funky. The tune is exciting and you don't really feel that it lasts so long. Good stuff.
Apparently, Beastie Boys became an inspiration during the recording sessions of the album and maybe that's because I already know it, but I do hear the influence in the track. Maybe some Fatboy Slim as well?
