Here's something for an uplifting start to your week.
Brighton singer IYAMAH teamed up with UK rapper Kofi Stone for "Green Grass" - a song playing with the saying "the grass is always greener on the other side", with references to Eden, the concept of perfection & always seeking what we can't have.
“The question is, if we really had perfection, would it truly be everything we imagined? Or it is just a projection that our minds constantly chase after, like a fairy tale that doesn’t exist? When we play in the grass without precaution, we are not aware of what lies beneath it,” the UK songstress elaborates.
Reminiscent of the likes of Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill (and even Selah Sue in the 2nd verse), IYAMAH majestically blends soul, r&b, hip hop & reggae for one of the most captivating tunes you'll hear this week. And Kofi's effortless flow & storytelling make things indeed absolute perfection (pun intended).
"Green Grass" is part of IYAMAH's upcoming project In Two Worlds, revolving around the themes of dreams, hopes, and desires, delving into the distinction between those who merely fantasize and those who bring their dreams to life. You'll also find her reflecting on her own journey of reconciling her past, inner child, and relationships with nature, money, religion, and spirituality. I can't wait to hear it in full.
