IYAMAH is certainly among my fav finds of 2023 - her "Green Grass" completely blew me away. And it only helped to see her perform live in KOKO Camden, London a week ago. Now, she's back with some new bliss, the single "Gemini Guy".
The Brighton-born London-based singer returned with a smooth, slow-groove, almost cinematic tune, exploring the concept of duality inspired by the astrological traits of Geminis. She elaborates, “Through this experience, I found myself thinking about how relationships often can highlight parts of ourselves which we didn’t see before – our two sides. We are all mirrors, and often we choose to see and show only a part of something, rather than in its entirety.”
IYAMAH delves into the contrast between dreams and reality, examining the impact of her past, inner child, and relationships with nature, money, religion, and spirituality. These themes can also be found in her upcoming album In Two Worlds (due to release in March 2024) where she also reflects on the divide between those who dream and those who turn dreams into reality, posing questions about the parallel universes that separate them.
