Today we celebrate London-based duo Ivy Lab and their new LP Infinite Falling Ground Pt.2.
I had the pleasure of seeing Sabre & Stray perform live in Berlin sometime in 2015-16 around the release of their debut album 20/20 Vol. One, but it's weirdly the first time we talk about their music on Stereofox.
I guess if you've already read the album title one thing's for sure - there was Infinite Falling Ground - an album they released in 2022 as an audio/visual project. The new album follows the journey of the characters from part 1 (Emma and Charlie) and it comes in the form of a short film themed around fatherhood. That makes the whole release not only a pleasing sonic experience but also visually immersive. The new A/V show will debut in London on 5th September before they head out for a US tour.
The 14 tracks on Infinite Falling Ground Pt.2 dwell in the space of trip-hop, downtempo, and instrumental hip hop music. Gove elaborates, "For me, this music is loaded with agenda both emotionally and vocationally. I’m journaling an era of contemplation about the experience of fatherhood, both as a parent but also as the child of a fascinatingly mysterious father. I’m also in need of a vehicle to pursue my ambitions in visual arts and with this album comes the opportunity to create a sequel film."
For today's highlight, I chose "Curves" which felt very alluring and somehow quickly resonated with my mood as of lately.
