“Zap Zone” is the first single from Algorithm & Blues, the latest EP collaboration between Detroit emcee Isaac Castor and producer Hir-O.
From the production to the lyricism, there is a lot to be fascinated with in this release. The presence of shimmering synths marks the influence of electronic music while the drums borrow from boom-bap - this style certainly reminds us of the likes of Black Milk. When it comes to the verses, Isaac's smooth flows leave listeners hanging onto his every word as he delivers raw lyricism and witty punch lines. I absolutely loved how "Zap Zone" bridges the gap between nostalgia and bringing something new to the table.
