Timoshenko is one of those rare DJs who make Bulgarian club scene not only fun, but also uniquely exciting. Kazakhstan-born and living in Sofia since 2008, Konstantin Timoshenko has been a part of several music-related projects and has become a prominent name in the underground club culture. I have the pleasure to present you with an exclusive mix he's done for Stereofox and a short interview about his work.

What are the factors you take into account when you select tracks for a party?

My own taste in music, my mood, my record collection - these are the most important factors. Of course the selection also depends on the place, event and it's time.

What is the most common DJ mistake?

The desire to indulge the audience.

Is DJ a job, vocation or a hobby?

It became a job for me at a certain moment and I am thankful for that. It gives me awesome experiences and helps me develop my professional skills.

You are also a part of the electro-pop band Help Me Jones. How is performing  live in concert compared to playing in a club and where do you feel more at home?

Those are two totally different things and I love them both. I cannot compare them as they are too different. In HMJ (or any other music project in which I take a part) I present myself as a musician, composer, arranger and producer. As a DJ, I share my tastes in dance music with the audience.

People know you for your love of rare Euro and Italo disco, how did this  love begin?

It comes began in my childhood and teen years, when I did the first steps in my DJ career . For me it's the most  ''danceable'' dance music. I love it because it not ''zombifying'' with a monotonous rhythm, it has simple, yet beautiful melodies and is full of great emotions.

What are the advantages of playing vinyl records or is it a matter of passion?

The most obvious one is sound quality. Also, I'm a musician myself so for me buying records means respecting the authors. I don't want to steal someone's music as someone could easily steal mine. Another reason is DJ skills - it is so much more interesting to spin records, than to use a mouse. And finally - yes, records are my passion.

If you are in Plovdiv on June 19 you will have the opportunity to hear Timoshenko in action with some other DJs at the opening party for One Design Week.
