Ever since I stumbled upon Golden Vessel's brilliant blend of Foals' "Spanish Sahara" and Honne's "No Place Like Home", I've been browsing deep into the young Australian producer's SoundCloud account and trust me, there's a lot of things to be impressed there.

This happened pretty quickly which is awesome and I'm happy to share with you his mini mix for Stereofox which if I have to put shortly, will elevate you. Was really happy to see to see a lot of artists we support onto there. Portico, Maribou State, FekiBeau Young Prince are just few of the awesome artists he blended together for this nearly 28 minutes long soundwave. Absolutely stellar.

Besides that, I had the chance to have a little chat with Max, so browse the interview with him below.

Tracklist:

1. Bones & Drip-133 - UnlessImWrong
2. Karma Kid - No Qualms
3. Foals x Honne - No Place like Spanish Sahara (Golden Vessel Remix)
4. Portico - 101 (feat. Joe Newman)
5. Woodes x Elkkle - Muddy
6. Maribou State - Larks Rise
7. Insightful - Stepping Over Hearts
8. Charles Murdoch - Straws
9. Feki - Quiet Minds (feat. Who's Emily)
10. Beau Young Prince x Bearcubs - Model Walk
11. Anatole - Ferox

golden vessel mini mix interview

Hi Max! You're just 18 and already has a few tracks on your own and numerous collabs/remixes. How did you goti into making music?

Thanks so much! I originally formed a synth pop band with some friends and after playing one show for somes friends, but after that we stopped practicing, and I wanted to continue making music with the gear i'd purchased, so decided to make do with producing by myself. But since then it's become my passion.

Do you play any instruments and do you think that's a good plus for every producer nowadays or laptop and vision is enough?

Yeah I have been playing piano since I was four years old, and now teach it. I love nerding out and creating unusual jazzy chord progressions, but I also envy producers with little to no training as they are less bound by music rules and therefore bend them. I don't think music theory is a boundary to being creative

How do you choose the songs you want to remix and who are the artists you would like to work with in the future?

I like to choose tracks that I love the vocals from and can see myself bringing something new and completely different to the original. I think locking down a collaboration with Rome Fortune and Ben Khan would be unreal

How do you learn and improve when it comes to music production? Playing around or there's something/someone you look up to?

Yeah I think it's a mixture between experimenting with technology and gear and bouncing thoughts and demos off my muso mates.

How does your average day look like?

I usually wake up at 9 or 10am, check SoundCloud and blogs, eat a nice salad for lunch, catch up on university and create a beat or two somewhere in there, and then some nights go to work and fill shelves at a supermarket then get home, watch netflix and go to bed at 2-3am

We recently interviewed another fellow Australian producer swindail from Sydney. What's the scene like over there in Brisbane where you're from? Do you have a chance to play live often?

Brisbane has a great electronic scene. I'm in a little community with other musicians cln, Feki, Omniment, Allthingslost, Sky-Tsu, Yuuca and Tabrill and we just hang out and bounce idea off each other. It's really hard to pull a crowd for shows in Brisbane, but this year i've gotten into performing live and have supported some really cool artists including Vallis Alps and E^ST.

If someone offers you to play a live show anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would that be?

It would have to be Manhattan. I love New York City to death and would take any opportunity to get myself over there

Do you enjoy more working on your own stuff or remixing/mashing up tracks?

I love working on originals more, but there's also something nice about switching it up and reworking other people's originals

Thanks for the interview! Any final thoughts? Anything that's on your mind - feel free to drop it here.

Yeah final thought, I've got a track coming out early November called "Can't Stay'"featuring Allthingslost, so keep an eye out for that. Cheers!

Stay up to date.
