Hurray, #LabelWeek is back!

This time we choose to focus on a young French label named Crosswalk. It has been founded just one year ago by Gautier de Bosredon and Mathieu Leglise - whom we had the opportunity to interview to know more about Crosswalk and its philosophy.
To celebrate their one-year anniversary, the label releases today their own compilation entitled Crosswalk Records #1.

crosswalk vol. 1

Can you introduce yourselves?

Hi! We’re Gautier – label manager, and Mathieu – artistic director. We both work at Crosswalk Records. We are friends since our teenage years so we’ve known each other for 15 years… already :). We’ve studied different things in college, then our roads eventually meet again to launch a project about music – a shared passion since we first met.

What's Crosswalk Records' philosophy ?

Crosswalk’s philosophy is based around a simple concept – good mood! It’s something central as much in our way of working as in the music we produce. It’s a fundamental concept to us and we tend to get closer to it as much as we can.
About the rest, it’s a bit cliché, but we just want to guide artists as they grow, and we want to provide them an accurate and actual vision of the music industry. We are extremely lucky to discover new artists everyday, whose music is refreshing and original. Our major challenge is to go beyond the internet buzz and to inscribe the artist within the musical landscape for a long time.

How do you decide to sign this or this artist?

The music goes beyond everything else, but we also choose according to our current longing and our music crushes. We also like to vary the genre from a release to another. We listen to all kind of music and are influenced by many genres. Our most important criterias are good mood and sunshine in the music. As long as these are in your music, then your release could have its imprint on Crosswalk.

Crosswalk is described as ecclectic, but what kind of genre(s) would we never find on your label?

Reggaeton? Maquina? Those kinds of stuff :)

If you had the opportunity to sign whatever artists you want, which ones would we find on Crosswalk?

We would love to sign artists like Flight Facilities, Lilly Wood & The Prick or more recently French headliners as Feder or Synapson. Those names completely suits Crosswalk’s DNA.

What do you listen to at your office?

We’ve all have headphones stuck on our head, so to make a quick overview we have listen a lot to “Bright Side” which has been released recently through Crosswalk, and to our first compilation which came out today. Otherwise, the new Jamie XX “In Colour” has spinned a lot in our office, as well as the great Jaakko Eino Kalevi latest album, released via Domino.

Stay up to date.
