Whether you discovered them through their social media or their popular release "JUMP", there's no denying that me n ü have everything it takes to propel them to stardom. The newly formed Chicago-based producer/DJ duo dropped into the scene and began releasing music in 2024, and in the space of one year, they've amassed a loyal following with their airy and emotionally fueled style of electronica that they've tagged as "hope house". They also earned a well-deserved spot in our 20 Rising Electronic Artists You Need to Watch in 2025 article.

Even though they have a handful of tracks on their catalog, we're still introduced to a range of tracks that display their sonic range. Tracks like "WONDER" and "JUMP" allow us to dive into a calm state, while "IT MIGHT BE THE DRUGS" is a certified dance floor banger. We caught up with the twins and we dived into their journey as artists throughout this interview.

The interview coincides with me n ü's brand new single "SWEET LOVIN" released a few hours ago (featured on our chill electronic sunset playlist).

What did your life look like before you started pursuing a career in music?

Honestly, our life looked really normal. We were like any other teenagers, in school with friends. We did sports and all the fun clubs. When COVID happened, that’s when we started producing music and really looking to make music professionally. Watching the world shut down showed us that the guaranteed future people our age counted on may not be around, which felt freeing and mentally gave us the green light to go ahead with a music career.

Stay up to date.

How do you feel your moniker, me n ü, reflects the sound and the narrative of your music?

We didn’t think deeply about the name when we created it. It was originally the title of a song we never used, and we thought it looked cool so we decided to use it for our group instead. Looking back, it was a perfect choice because it represents the relationship between us as sisters, doing it together, but also the relationship between us and everyone who listens to our music. It’s intimate, but also fun.

What led you to start creating music for commercials, TV shows, and movies? And what were some of the pros and cons that came with taking that path?

We didn’t know anything about making music for commercials and movies when we go into it. We just needed to pay our bills, and we got lucky with a few of our songs randomly being used in some TV shows. Once we saw that happen, we realized we wanted to go into that side of the industry to buy ourselves time and figure out our next move. We’re so grateful to that chapter, which let us do everything we’re doing today. The pros were being able to hone our craft as writers and producers, as well as seeing our music in so many culturally significant projects, which was cool. The only con is that it can be creatively stifling and times, and we just realized we wanted to do something else after about 4 years.

What is your philosophy and mindset around social media that keeps you guys consistent and performing so well?

We don’t really have a philosophy on social media, we just love to post and create content. It makes us so happy to connect with people, and if we could, we would post even more!

How does performing live or DJing fulfill you in ways that producing music doesn't?

Performing gives us more of an adrenaline rush and allows us to see how music affects people in real-time. It’s also really really fun.

So... 1) An artist/band you would have a D.M.C (Deep Meaningful Conversation), 2) An artist/band you’d love to party with. 3) Artist would like to be your mentor? You're welcome to pick from artists/bands who are retired/dead.
