A collaboration we've been dreaming of. Two of the most innovative artists in the alt/contemporary R&B and hip-hop scene are coming together to create something that will leave a lasting impact.
It is official - we'll get a collaborative Illa J / Ash Walker EP and I couldn't be happier. Both are artists we've been following for years. I also had the pleasure of seeing Ash Walker performing live last year, which certainly was one of my summer concert highlights.
The new project will be titled Off Days In London and is scheduled for release via BBE Music. Today's highlight "Peace" is the B side to the first single of the project - "What! (Edit)".
Illa J brings vocals that evoke the soulful essence of D'Angelo, layered over production that channels the spirit of J Dilla’s neo-soul era, but all that with a modern twist through the prism of his experiences.
If that's how we start this EP journey, I bet we're in for a great ride ahead.
