Thandi Ntuli is by far among my favorite South African Jazz artists and so when I saw her featured, my eyes lit up like fireworks.
"Alive" is great because it walks a fine line between Electronica and Hip Hop. The drums have a unique kind of swing to them, there's percussion littered everywhere, plus the synths works are pulsating enough to be considered psychedelic. In many ways, this is quite reminiscent to Flying Lotus's "Tea Leaf Dancers". Lyrically, themes of unity, positivity, and perseverance are explored all throughout "Alive" and honestly, I can see someone's whole day being made through the discovery of a gem such as this.
