It's not often an artist shoots up on the top of my favourite charts after just a single release, but Halibab Matador is certainly an exception.
Inspired by D'Angelo's classic "Untitled (How Does It Feel)", his second-only single "Ocean/Sea" is a dreamy and warm sonic escape to anyone who loves the art of Jordan Rakei, FKJ, and vbnd.
"Ocean/Sea evokes love. Knowing true love is a great privilege, which I’m blessed to enjoy. I wrote this song after a trip to the sea with my girlfriend, almost 8 years ago. We visited a giant aquarium, where I took a lot of pictures. For some reason, this inspired me greatly. At the time, I posted this song as a demo on SoundCloud with one of the pictures taken, and for the first time, had a really positive response to my music. I felt that there was something special in this melody and this song.", shares Halibab Matador.
This gorgeous tune will be included in his forthcoming solo project and features long-time friends and amazing musicians Lea Kadian (bass) and Jeremy Dumont (Rhodes).
Today's reason to absolutely love music.
