Do you all remember Bonobo's track First Fires? I hope you do, because, uhm, it’s awesome.
Anyways, the other day I stumbled upon Grey Reverend and I was wondering for quite some time who this guy was and why his name and his voice sound so familiar. And then it hit me. He is the vocals and feat. guy of Bonobo’s track.
Apart from Bonobo Grey Reverend is pretty much amazing. To be honest, I haven't heard such a nice, simple and very pleasant to hear folk song in a while. New album A Hero's Lie will be released later this year and "Nightingale" off his Everlasting EP gives us a good taste of it.
The song is simple, honest and somewhat tragic lyrically, but not depressing and still gives you a very light feeling. It is still an ear candy especially for the fans of the acoustic guitar (which sounds particularly beautiful in the very beginning of the track). The rumour is that it is a tribute to Elliott Smith.
How many goodies like this does Ninja Tune have in stock?
