R&B icon Grace Weber released her sophomore album Paperflower last month, and the breath-taking single "Intimate" is certainly one of the brightest gems on the project.
In some way, you've probably come across the name Grace Weber before. In 2016, Weber penned the opening track on Chance the Rapper’s Grammy-winning Coloring Book (“All We Got”), plus she's toured alongside Chance, PJ Morton, and appeared on NPR's Tiny Desk with GoldLink. On her latest album, she continues to showcase her bold brand of r&b as she reveals a series of deeper stories in her life.
The romantic single "Intimate" serves as a stellar example of the above sentiment. It's fleshed out by a groovy bass riff that beautifully complements the beefy drums, and these gorgeous strings that wholly immerse listeners toward the end. I can't neglect to mention the range of her passionate vocal delivery that's driven by the emotions she feels for her lover.
“Paperflower is an album that represents my time living in Los Angeles the past 4 years and the love I’ve experienced with my husband, my friends, and the community of musicians I’ve gotten to work with here,” says Weber.
