After we've already seen the jazz house side of hip-hop today, it's time to go back to the roots of jazz rap.
Brooklyn native, South East London-based Goya Gumbani returns with a new single - "Manuva(s)", about “navigating the challenges you encounter while pursuing your dreams”. The melancholic jazzy hip hop piece was produced by & features keyboardist Joe Armon-Jones (of Ezra Collective). Combined with Goya's effortless, yet deep flow, this is one of the most enchanting pieces from the genre.
The accompanying visuals take a nod at the jazz legend & one of Goya's heroes, Miles Davis, and take us on a journey between London & New York:
"Manuva(s)" is taken off his upcoming album Warlord of the Weejuns, out March 21st, via Ghostly International (also available on vinyl). It features the previously released "Chase The Sunrise" with Yaya Bey, lojii, Fatima & "FireFly" with Fatima, as well as other gems with guest acts like Jaydonclover, Seafood Sam & more.
