Trap is an interesting genre in that it seems to have two completely separate branches with the same name. 'EDM Trap', as it was called for a while, is the classic sound characterised by huge 808 basslines and rave synths. This branch of the genre was always a pure dancefloor-filler with the likes of Mayhem, Antiserum, Matstubs and Troyboi helping to bring it to popularity nearly a decade ago. In recent years, however, artists such as Blake Skowron, Dabow and Umru have given the genre an experimental twist with warped synths, industrial drum kits and distorted vocals.
