As the world is waiting for 13th of March - the official date for Four Tet's upcoming album Sixteen Oceans, the prolific UK producer is slowly chipping away pieces from the record. Those pieces, namely "Baby" (featuring Ellie Goulding ), "Teenage Birdsong" and today's feature "4T Recordings" are enough to state that we're in for a transcendental experience and a worthy success for Kieran's 2017 New Energy.
"4T Recordings" is named after his early days moniker and listening to it is one of the weirdest things I've experienced in a while. I've been going in and out of these insane focus phases in the past couple of weeks where a lot of my time goes into exploring a few ideas for this project and this sound is the perfect way to describe the dynamics in my head. I fell asleep to this track and had this vision.
I was standing on the top of a mountain overseeing a vast savanna somewhere in Africa. There were tons of animals like lions and zebras and giraffes and all that. Animals, I haven't seen ever before. The whole ambiance, however, felt extremely safe. It felt like being home. And everything was going in a slow-motion pace. It was weird because my mind and soul felt at peace, but at the same time weirdly indifferent towards everything. This went on forever as if I wasn't actually present there. Just a mere observer.
This track is a trip.
