In 2020 the rapper and producer Pete Miser dusted off an ancient hard drive and went back in time. He went through the unreleased recordings of his long-abandoned ten-piece hip hop band, Five Fingers Of Funk, and the result is the album Portland Say It Again.
The first single from the LP is "We Were Big In The Nineties," and the original line-up recorded their parts remotely due to the restriction at the beginning of the pandemic. It kicks off with a live show recording and a shiny new horn arrangement over self-deprecating reflections on a legacy. The whole band steps into it with an enthusiasm, pouring from every rhyme in "We Were Big In The Nineties" while making us impatient for the album.
