Everything Is Recorded is a creative outlet started in 2017 by legendary producer and label owner Richard Russell - the driving force behind one of the most forward-thinking record labels in the past 35 years - XL Recordings. The project showcases not just his visionary production but his own artistry - generous, collaborative, complex, and enriched by some of the voices he’s nurtured along the way.
Today we celebrate the release of Richard Russell Is Temporary - his brand new collaboration-packed LP that will elevate your soul and provide much-needed comfort thanks to an ambiance that feels so... human, vulnerable, and beautifully imperfect. The album featured a myriad of Galaxian artists including Florence Welch, Sampha, Bill Callahan, Jah Wobble, Kamasi Washington, Rickey Washington Nourished by Time, Alabaster DePlume, and Noah Cyrus.

I could only guess, but my personal read on the record's title is that while we're all here for a spec of time and we're all temporary, our legacy remains forever. The connections we've made, the friendships fostered, the love we gave, and in the case of Russell - the music he created.
As I write this while lying down on a hospital bed (nothing serious), I couldn't think of a better soundtrack to reflect on and cherish life itself. I fell in love with "The Meadows" because of the harmonic energy that it evokes in my limbic system. And the spoken word ending, now that hits hard. It maybe taken from an eulogy, not sure, but it made me insanely emotional.
“I received nothing, but unconditional love”
The song features Roses Gabor's gentle voice and father-son dream team Rickey & Kamasi Washington. I couldn't recommend this record enough. Do yourself a favor, explore it, and grant yourself a few moments of life-changing experiences.
