East London based duo Equals share their transformative re-imagining of the Sade classic, "No Ordinary Love".
The track taken from the duo's Old Habits EP, which is out tomorrow is a darker far grittier affair than the original. Drawing on influences ranging from UK bass and garage to modern classical the pair inject the song with an electronic tint giving it an exciting new dimension and an identity all its own.
The moody, hypnotic production offers the perfect counterpoint to the raw power and emotion of singer Ade Omotayo's voice. It's difficult not to notice Omotayo’s vocals, as it's in complete contrast to Sade’s distinctively husky, soothing tones. In saying that, if you loved the original, you’re going to love this cover, it's that good.
I'm pretty sure Helen Adu would approve.
