It's always exciting to witness artists try out something new and fresh with their craft.
That's why I'm proud to share a track off of Elijah Nang's new album.
Gaijin 3000 was released yesterday on our label, Stereofox Records, and is heavily influenced by synth-wave and electronica. It's a relatively new direction in sound for the UK-based producer, but it does however still have a touch of lo-fi, and "Telekinesis" makes this evident.
As a tribute to the ever-evolving Flying Lotus it features lush synth pads, a groovy bassline, and quirky leads. Personally, I think this is a great tribute. It clearly captures elements of Flylo's sound, while still maintaining its own integrity.
The drums have that wonky feel and character that is one of the iconic traits of Flylo's productions.
For me, it was the atmospheric layers that really got me on board. The choir fills out the space nicely since it brings a certain introspective feel to the beat. My favorite element is the distant synth lick that occurs every now and then. The sound is immaculate and full of character. It makes me think of an icy cave, with its super clean textures tingling in the distance.
