Don Gadi's "Sad" is the kind of release that offers listeners food for thought throughout each of his verses thanks to the themes he dives into here.
The San Diego-based wordsmith, vocalist, and producer has literally blurred the lines between hip hop, r&b, and soul music - especially since the instrumental of "Sad" is built upon that classic Motown sound. At times it sounds as if he's rapping, and at times it sounds like he's singing, and when he does there's hurt and sadness leaking from his voice that complements the theme of the track.
Don Gadi shares; "The song itself is not meant to be sad or solemn, only describing our tendency as humans to hold on to sadness."
