Doechii’s Alligators Bites Never Heal is certainly one of the hottest rap projects that arrived in 2024 - and one of my favorite moments on this gorgeous body of work is "WAIT".
Over the last few years, the Florida-native Doechii is a singer, rapper, songwriter who has been exhibiting why she is fated for stardom in the near future. Alligators Bites Never Heal is a mixtape that shys away from mass appeal to some degree, however "WAIT" is one of the few tracks here that actually has a hook. She exhibits her prowess as a singer throughout the chorus by delivering an incredibly soulful hook. At the same time, the verses are decorated with stellar lyricism and dynamic flows that keep us gripped from start to finish. I can't neglect to mention the dreamy synths in the backdrop that complement the track's soulful allure.
