I am always keeping my eye out for upcoming styles in the realm of electronic hip hop & soul. I can't exactly remember how I found out about Derlee's work... I believe it suggested for me on soundcloud from some Late Night Radio tracks.
Off his newest album, Off The Beat’n Path, you get creative sampling packaged with kickin’ bass and soulful overtones. I am straight vibin' with this particular creation.
What I liked most about this track is how it switches up from absolutely smooth and chill, then breaks it down into some thoughtfully-crafted, jump-up hip hop beats. I guess I am a sucker for deep basslines and sick drum beats -- the kind that induce meditative head-bobbing. Take a deep breath and listen.
