Two days ago, Daniel threw some light on Deftones latest video - "Swerve City". I have not followed the band as closely as before but this video definitely triggered my fondness of Deftones once again. At first, this remix of "Minerva" is peculiar so to speak. I could not quite get what was different until I realized the guitars are gutted. The vast empty space between the dark, starless sky and the cold numbing sand of the desert is left only for Chino's mesmerizing voice and the rest of the instrumental (every Deftones fan must have watched the video to the song).
There are some guitar traces here and there , but the overall deep, alternative-rock element is softened to a great extent. In this way, it might please people who are not into Deftones music and it will pleasantly surprise the band's long-standing fans. Thanks Justin St. Charles for this awesome remix!
