One of the most distinctive voices in the alt r&b/pop space, Clara La San, recently resurrected her 2017 release Good Mourning. The mixtape earned her a cult-like status towards the end of the last decade, especially after she took it down in 2019 citing that "it didn't feel ready". Something that shocked and saddened a lot of people worldwide. The hiatus was short-lived because we saw her brilliant return on the scene thanks to her BICEP collaborations "Saku" (2020) and "Siena" (2021).

The Good Mourning return on streaming platforms follows her highly anticipated debut album, Made Mistakes, released also in 2024. A great way to wrap up a fruitful year, a culmination of years of hard work.

I wanted to spotlight one of my favorite songs on the mixtape, the futuristic anthem "Feel Good". It feels like a perfect cut of 2000s r&b with production inspired by the late 2010s future garage hype. I guess it should come as no surprise given when the mixtape was created and Clara's artistic inspiration she cited in a Fader interview - Aaliyah, Timbaland, and Janet Jackson.
