After a 4 year hiatus, the one and only Childish Gambino returns with a new album Atavista that's loaded with surprises and vast influences.
What's fascinating is that Atavista continues to run with the baton from his 2020 album 3.15.20 - in fact, it's re-released as Atavista and the visuals initially give it away. One of the hallmark moments of the album is certainly the opener and title track "Atavista". I loved how the colorful, somewhat jarring synths immediately snatch our attention and hold it until we land in a passage that's joyous and summery. His caramel-sweet vocals are juxtaposed with lyrical themes around fame, inner struggles, and personal progression.
