A few months ago the downtempo/electronica luminary Catching Flies announced the release of a new album in 2024, and last week we were treated to yet another single titled "Magnolia".This is a beautiful follow-up to the first single "Tides", and both possess the signature sampling style of Catching Flies, particularly regarding vocals.
What makes "Magnolia" unique however is that this experience feels rather meditative thanks to the lush soundscape we're welcome to along with the slow-paced progression. The inclusion of the soothing brass section, horns, and strings offers an organic, elegant touch that's VERY reminiscent of early Bonobo works.
