Some 16 months ago, when I sat down in my room in the Netherlands and finally started working on the (back then) "vague idea of a music website", one of my motivations was meeting bands, talking to them, understanding what their life behind the curtain is. Thoughts, ideas, values. Needless to say, there's a band which I have always perceived as "the white whale" - my ultimate goal. A band I not only adore, but a band which justifies the whole awesomeness of my favourite genre - post-rock. Yes, that's Caspian and tomorrow me and Juan will be interviewing them.
I saw them live in 2012 in Barcelona, but back then we still hadn't launched, so the idea of actually interviewing them was utopian. I can't hide my happiness that we've worked hard enough and now this is all possible. This is what I had written in my review of the gig, which I posted on my website:
"I always knew I would review Caspian when the music blog I work on launches but after that song I knew I should write my experience now…before it fades away with time"
I guess that has been one of the smartest things I've ever done in my life. To this day I think this is one of the most honest and personal things I've written and I'm not sure if I can tap that.
Now could you do me a favour? If you really value music and I mean music in general - whether you're a punk, hipster, heavy, electronic head - if you value music, check out this live below and go to the track which starts around the 39th minute. Pay careful attention to the way the song finishes. You won't regret.
Also, I'm adding "Gone In Bloom and Bough" to the music player below, just because it's a super rad track and every woman, man a child should listen to it at least once.
