Calcou has unveiled his sophomore album Murmuration, and one of the brightest gems from this sonic treasury is certainly the lush and emotive "Birdsong".
The German producer has made a name for himself with his distinct style that unifies downtempo, melodic house, and IDM in a manner that feels deeply cinematic. "Birdsong" stays true to this sentiment as boomy drums and organic embellishments underpin these immersive, atmospheric string synths. Towards the second half, the track's emotional charm blossoms with the vocals standing out and the compelling climax breathing life into the stereo. We've featured numerous releases from Calcou and this stands as among my favorites.
