In many ways, instrumentally "While Black" sounds like a deep cut that could've appeared on Kendrick's To Pimp a Butterly.
I instantly gravitated towards the delivery of the first verse, especially with the inclusion of the soulful harmonies which felt visceral on every repetition. With the introduction of the second verse also came a switch up instrumentally and vocally, and I found the second verse more relatable. Regardless of relatability or not, the vocal and instrumental virtuosity in "While Black" is simply undeniable.
