"Misery" was my first introduction to the world of billy woods, and I was immediately drawn in by his unconventional flow and imaginative songwriting.
In the short span of 4 years, billy woods has accumulated quite a devoted following around his left-field brand of hip hop. "Misery" serves as a prelude to GOLLIWOG - billy woods' sophomore album that features production from the likes of The Alchemist, Kenny Segal, EL-P, and more. Kenny Segal's craftmanship on "Misery's" instrumental is exquisite as he delivers a beat that walks a fine line between edgy and soulful. This is complemented by raw lyricism about his romantic encounters and his thought process throughout the journey. The full album comes out on May 9th and is certainly a release you should have on your radar.
